What to Expect After you Buy Your Gown
You’ve had “the moment”, cried those happy tears and said YES to THE dress! Now what? What happens after the sale? Grab a cup of coffee and settle in. We are going to share the next steps with you on today’s blog. The biggest question we get is how long will it take my gown to come in? Typically gowns that are custom orders take approximately 6-9 months. Don’t let that scare you though – there are ways to speed that process up if necessary. We can always look into rush deliveries & designer stock to see if those are options for you. But what will you fill those next months with so that you don’t die with anticipation of your gown arriving? Here are our suggestions!
Now that you have your gown it’s the perfect time to focus on finding the perfect bridesmaids & of course dresses for the mothers of the wedding too! These types of gowns typically take about 16 weeks to custom order. One of our favorite bridesmaids lines Dessy carries an in-stock bridesmaid program that would arrive much sooner if needed.
- Undergarments – if you read last weeks blog on decoding the undergarments you’ll see how important it is to find the right undergarments for your perfect gown. You will want to make sure you purchase these before you have your first fittings with a seamstress.
- When the gown does arrive and passes our quality inspection of the garment (because we want it perfect for you!) we will call and have you book an appointment to come and try it on – please note – this is not a fitting with a seamstress. This appointment turns into the perfect opportunity to choose accessories for your big day.
- When you come to try on and pick up the gown – we think this is the PERFECT day for you to also book your trial up-do. That way you will see how it will all look together on the big day. It also helps with choosing any accessories that you might want try to complete your bridal look.
- After you take your gown home you will want to choose one of our preferred seamstresses to book your fitting appointments with for any nip/tucks that you may need. We recommend Nobility Clothing Designs – (Fredericton Area) & Rose’s Alterations (Moncton Area)
