There are many things to consider when purchasing and ordering a custom wedding gown. We have outlined a few of our most frequently asked questions for your convenience. A consultant at our store would be pleased to provide any additional information you may require.
Q: When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
A: Delivery of a wedding dress generally takes 3 to 6 months, so we recommend you being the process at least 6 to 8 months in advance of your wedding date.

Q: My wedding is less than 3 months away. What do I do?
A: We have many in-stock gowns that may be purchased and restored as close to possible to their original condition. Generally this requires the assistance of the dry-cleaners and perhaps a seamstress to look at beadwork. We can also special order your gown as a rush for a surcharge from certain designers.

Q: Will my custom ordered gown fit me perfectly when it arrives?
A: Your measurements will be taken at the time you order your gown. These measurements are used to choose the size that most closely matches your measurements based on each individual designers size chart. Alterations are usually required for an exact fit.

Q: Is there a charge for alterations?
A: Yes, as with most reputable bridal salons, there is a charge for alterations. Bridal seamstresses are highly skilled and will ensure that your gown fits you perfectly. Lockhart’s will gladly refer you to a seamstress who has years of experience with bridal alterations and is very competent.

Q: Members of my bridal party live out of town how do we arrange to fit their dresses?
A: All we need is their measurements, personal information and required deposit. Once the dress arrives we will ship it, as per their instructions (e.g. FedEx), for alteration by their own dressmaker. We recommend that measurements are taken by the seamstress that will do the alterations, for greater certainty of measurement accuracy.
