frequently asked questions

Lockhart’s prides itself on the individual attention that we provide each of our clients. In order to give you the full attention of our experienced stylists, we request that you set up an appointment.  This also ensures that you have access to one of our two spacious dressing areas.

Our appointments are booked for an hour to an hour and a half.  With the assistance of our stylists, this seems to be an appropriate amount of time without becoming overwhelmed and exhausted (it’s hard work trying dresses on!)

Bring pictures of dresses you’ve seen on our website, in magazines or that you’ve tried on elsewhere. And bring an open mind: don’t be surprised if you find “the dress” on your first visit to Lockhart’s.

Bring the closest friend or family member whose opinion you value and who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your gown. Bringing more than 3 others can take the focus off of you.

We carry a full range of sizes including a large selection of plus-size samples.

Absolutely!  We want you to remember your wedding gown shopping experience and your first impressions of your dream gown.  The twinkle in your eye that says “I look fabulous!” should be captured forever.

Special-order designer veils have a 3-4 months lead-time, so making a decision at the time you order your gown is helpful. It is certainly easier to make these decisions when you have your wedding gown on.

Absolutely! Not only do many brides find their dress on their first visit to Lockhart’s, but they also find all their accessories (veils, headpieces, jewellery etc) on their first visit.

Although you may not need a full appointment to try on accessories, we would appreciate a quick call or email to let us know that you are coming so that we can give you our full attention. 1-506.432.6594.

It’s best to allow 6-9 months before your wedding to order a gown.  Although this seems like a long time, consider that your gown is being made specifically for you in your colour, size, and fabric choice.

Most of the gowns we sell are special-order. A special-order gown is made specifically for you based on the measurements we take from you, the designer then uses their pattern that is closest to your measurements to create your gown. Once your gown arrives, it will be fitted to perfection by your seamstress.

Your gown is delivered to us directly from the designer and we perform a thorough quality control check on each gown. Once we are satisfied the gown is perfect, we’ll call you to schedule an appointment for you to try it on.
